Home From Home training for all dogs.
What is “Home from Home training”?
“Home from Home” is the KDTA boarding training package. Named as such because your dog stays with us in our home for the duration of their booking. They are treated as members of the family, enabling us to work as closely with them as you would in your own home, which always yields the best results. There are only ever a maximum of 2 boarding dogs with us at any time, and we have a specialist trainer who devotes all of their time to boarding dogs. They really do receive the best care and attention possible!
Does a board mean I don’t have to train my dog?
In short, no!
Training and good behavior in dogs requires constant top ups and maintaining. Your dog will return to you with a full written evaluation and report, and includes a hand-over session where techniques used are briefly explained. To get the full benefit from your board it is highly recommended that a package of private lessons is also booked. This is why we offer a package of lessons at a greatly reduced rate for board and train clients.
What is Home from Home training for?
Boarding training is not for all dogs, and not for all issues. In most cases it is advisable for your dog’s to be trained by you in your own home, with our help in 1-2-1 lessons. Sometimes however this is not possible, and should not mean that you can’t benefit from professional training.
Here are a few reasons to choose a board over private training:
Your dog has issues that are beyond the scope of home training, either beyond what you’re comfortable working with, or they require a highly skilled trainer to make initial headway.
You don’t have the time to give your dog’s training, and would like a head start. Honesty is the best policy here! We can build tools in your dog that make your training journey easier, and get the early tricky bits done for you.
You are going on holiday, and would like to take the opportunity to improve your dog’s behavior, whilst being cared for in a home environment.
Your dog’s issues have an unclear reason, and require time spent with us to better understand them and implement a suitable training plan.
There are many other reasons for a boarding train. If you’re interested in a chat please get in touch.
Home from Home is expensive! Why, and is it worth it?
Honestly, it depends…. Scroll down this page for prices at the bottom.
Our prices are cheaper than the majority of similar products in the area. We offer a genuine product at a fair price. The cost is based on the time that is required for us to dedicate to a boarding dog, which is considerable. We are highly qualified and experienced, insured and passionate. Your dog will get our absolute best, every time. You must also be willing to commit to implementing the training we’ve done once home. Your dog WILL slip back into old habits if this isn’t done.
Do you offer guaranteed results.
We do not. All dogs are different. Progress made depends on so many things. For example, often genetics are at play when it comes to behaviors such as anxiety. We can’t alter a dog’s genetics, no-one can. What we look at in these cases is management, and ways to improve the situation outside of conventional training. Spending time with us allows us to better asses these cases, and implement changes in routine and management that will reduce the problems. What we can assure you is that we will bring out the best in your dog, and you won’t be disappointed.
