Loose Lead Heelwork Class. 19th October, 10am.

€60.00

In this 3 hour group class, we will give you all of the skills you need to take your dog from chaotic puller, to calm and attentive walker. Being able to walk your dog is important for meeting their mental stimulation and physical exercise needs. With the nights drawing in, lead work is increasingly important. In this class you'll have plenty of opportunity to practice and tweak your new skills, individual advice from our trainers, and an appropriate amount of rest time for your dog.

In the session we will be working on the following:

Focus and engagement with the handler.

Good mindset for a walk and how to create it.

What various devices and tools created for walking actually do, and why they're generally a waste of money!

Reasons why dogs pull on the lead, and how to allow and encourage these natural behaviours while enjoying a harmonious walk.

Basic to advanced heeling methods, including teaching loose lead walking, and managing and altering the behaviour of a dog that pulls.

Walking your dog around distractions, and how to manage these situations effectively.

You will leave with all of the skills you need to continue your dog's development yourself, a comprehensive printout of all topics discussed and methods taught, and a dog who is well on the way to walking calmly and comfortably on lead for life! Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Classes are kept small to ensure the best possible experience for all.

Please note that if your dog shows aggressive or reactive behaviours towards dogs or people when on a walk this class is not suitable for you. Have a look at our 1-2-1 lessons to address these issues instead.
